Highlights
• Risk of recurrent VTE was found to be high after missed PE, even in cases of small segmental or subsegmental PE.
• The type of PE (segmental or subsegmental) did not impact recurrence outcomes among missed PE patients with cancer.
• Incidental, asymptomatic, PE should be considered for treatment based on the patient’s life expectancy and bleeding risk.
